Spencer Flay is back with a new single, ‘Out Out (feat. Nicole Silva)’, a track that captures you immediately with good vibes and party feels. Opening with an intricate acoustic line, the track builds up into a laid back pop tune with plenty of sprinklings from other genres to keep it original. Expansive, bouncy percussion laces your ears with the standard kick and snare being joined by the more eccentric bongos and even some castanets. A plucky synth joins the fray and makes this track a gorgeously vibrant anthem.
Spencer’s vocal performance is also a key element to the optimism of the track, showing off his talents in both singing and rapping, alongside his clever and relatable lyrics. His performance is both silky and personable, encapsulating the positivity whilst engaging the audience into the music. Nicole Silva’s feature is the perfect addition to the track with her colourful and luxuriant style adding another layer.
On the new release, Spencer shares:
“Out Out is my summer banger for grafters looking to get away from their daily grind. Sometimes we just need a night away from real life and I think as we get older we forget how important that night is.
I actually wrote this song last year after my mate’s wedding where all the lads and their wags were free from the kids and were just right up for a sesh. It really made me appreciate that quality time I have with them, even if it ends in a good chunder!
My favourite music to get a dance on has always been a good reggaeton beat and there was no way it wasn’t going to have a latino vibe! My mate and super talented singer Nicole Silva was the perfect match to make that combo come true.
My music video sums it up really, everyone can really relate to this one in one way or another! Big love to my producer Angus Malcolm who really nailed this too.”
Spencer Flay is a dance and reggaeton singer-songwriter, enticing his audience with beats made with his ukulele, guitar, keys and loop station. He first garnered attention in 2018, when the BBC became fascinated with his routine of writing songs in his crane cab, 30 metres over the Bristol Docks. After signing with ADSRecords in 2020, Flay has continued to expand and enhance his style, building up a live reputation in the southwest of the UK.
After releasing his debut album, ‘Sound Waves’, in 2021, Spencer has cemented himself as a great writer and one to watch as well appearing on BBC One’s documentary ‘We Are England’. With ‘Out Out’ being his first track of 2023, we can expect to see more witty and well produced tracks from the artist in the future.
