Spencer Flay has been rocketing through a fresh run of singles that has seen him collaborate with fellow up and comers, artists like Nicole Silva, Cut Throat Francis and most recently Luke Potter. He now wraps up this exciting 2023 schedule with brand new EP ‘5 Pack’. Across the project Spencer brings every ounce of wit that we’ve come to love, pairing his signature dance style with vibrant guitar melodies and roaring synths. In ‘5 Pack’ Spencer never confines himself to a single genre, taking elements from indie-rock all the way to jump-up drum and bass. What this leaves listeners with is 16-minutes of non-stop energy, all infused with Spencer’s boundless personality and distinct creativity.
Spencer shares on the new release:
“I’ve always wanted to make this EP happen and doing so has been a crazy mad coaster. I’ve been lucky enough to meet five outstanding artists that have been overly helpful in lending me their talent for these five tracks, working with these different genres and these mint human beings have given me a warming experience and a great connection and insight into other genres of music I wouldn’t usually dabble in. It all started because I wanted to try something different and give a little more, so I thought, what would it sound like if I crossed my reggaeton with all these other exotic styles? And that’s helped me to tell better stories and put out a lot of different emotions.
A massive love goes to my producer Angus Malcolm who, in the way only he can, supply the perfect amount of “weird” to mix these genres into the perfect concoction. And magically has it all sounding like it belongs on the same EP. It’s been an exploration and I hope you enjoy where it takes you!”
Dance and reggaeton singer-songwriter Spencer Flay has been dropping bouncy beats since 2018, using his ukulele, guitar, keys and loop station to attract his fanbase. He rose to attention, quite literally, in late 2018 when the BBC became fascinated with his routine of writing songs in his crane cab, 30 metres over the Bristol Docks.
In 2020, Spencer signed with ADSRecords, since continuing to hone in his style and sound, building a live reputation in the southwest. He released his seminal work Sound Waves in 2021 – including Billionaire and Bristol Bloke cementing his name as a writer of witty and relatable lyrics. Flay has since appeared on BBC ONE’s documentary ‘We Are England’ and released his first seasonal track, ‘Hey Christmas’ in late 2022.
