ATLANTA, Ga. — July 15, 2025 — In an era where “everyone’s trying to rap,” Brooklyn-born, Atlanta-based artist and battle rapper Simply DJ is cutting through the static with a distinct sound, raw lyricism, and an unshakable authenticity. With roots in both coasts and the accolades to prove it, DJ is quickly becoming a name to know in underground hip-hop—and beyond.
Recognized by industry figures like Lil Scrappy, Antonio Brown, and Cae Cartier, Simply DJ earned titles such as DHBL’s MVP and Rookie of the Year in the battle rap circuit. But now, he’s taking that lyrical fire into the booth, with his new single “Ain’t Playin” (featuring Wonn) and upcoming mixtape Neutron set to make waves.
“It took me a while to gain full confidence with my music because I was worried people would say I’m following someone else,” DJ admits. “But that all changed when I got comfortable with my own sound. Once I did that, I realized I had something unique.”
Neutron, dropping August 23, is a ten-track project that blends DJ’s gritty, East Coast-honed punchlines with Southern energy and melodic finesse. With features from close friends and no industry handouts, the mixtape embodies DJ’s mission: build a name the right way.
“I’m not gonna be the person to pay my way to the top,” he says. “I’m coming with my own sound—a merge of hype energy and real rap. I want to bring back the love of bars, substance, and meaning.”
His rise hasn’t been without challenges. In a saturated landscape, DJ had to break through self-doubt and industry noise to arrive at his voice. But now, with buzz growing and performances sharpening, he has his sights set on the big stage—and he’s not looking back.
“I don’t need all the awards,” he explains. “I just want people to know my name and skill. I want the shows, the tours, the big checks—because I know I’ve earned them.”
With Ain’t Playin available now and Neutron on deck, Simply DJ is proving that bars, integrity, and hustle still matter—and that the next generation of real rap is alive and well.
