How did you initially become involved with The TV series Lucifer and what was your reaction when you got the part? I remember getting a call from my agent last minute. My agent said the audition time was in the hour. In the end, I think that helped out a lot. I never really had the time to get my head around it. Zeeke Moore, my character was an interesting role to play. My reaction when I got that part was ecstatic. They were filming in Vancouver Canada at the time as well. When I got to the Canada airport and left the building, there was a guy holding a sign with my name on it, and that felt really awesome to see that. I stayed in a beautiful hotel and for sure went sightseeing.
Can you describe the character you played in Lucifer and how you prepared for this role?my character was Zeke Moore, who was a drug dealer. With no moral compass, and a Tennessee for violence, it was fun to discover what motivates and drives the character. You can’t really label a character as a good guy or bad guy. You can definitely think of the way you have to embrace why and who they are. And that’s what I did.
Lucifer is known for its unique blind of genres, including drama, comedy, and supernatural elements. How did you adapt your acting style to fit into the diverse show?It was a unique blend at biblical exploration, as well as the supernatural. The essential step in character development is identifying how I relate it to the character, and under what circumstances would I behave the same way.
Working on a show like Lucifer often involves special effects and fantasy elements. What was the most challenging aspect of working in such an environment?I was using a technique which shows the impact my character as a person is that I got shot with a bullet and wondering how a fan would react to it. I also remember in the scene. I had to fall onto the floor a lot. The camera was set up at ground level, which was really cool. They wanted you to see the impact of my characters head hitting the floor for about 10 takes. That was probably the toughest part.
The cast of Lucifer has been praised for their chemistry on screen. Can you share a memorable experience from working with the cast?the entire cast was so nice and accommodating. The cats had all been working together for so many seasons, and I felt like they were Family the whole time I was there. They all made me feel relaxed and welcomed. Tom Ellis, and I had many conversations about getting in shape. Tom was going to have an episode where he is shirtless; so, he was nervous about being in tiptop shape.
Lucifer tackles various themes from redemption to moral dilemmas. How did your character contribute to these themes? My character definitely contributed to both those things. My character was a perfect example of someone that had compromised all morals and ethics and played the ultimate price for his misdeeds.
The show has a dedicated fan base. How have fans of Lucifer responded to your role? And have you had any interesting interactions with them?As far as interaction with Lucifer fans. I’ve definitely had fans of the show recognize me and tell me that it’s their Favorite show to watch.
How did working on Lucifer compare to your previous acting experiences in terms of production scale, and team dynamics? I can say the scripts are amazing and that the main actors are amazing as well. The writers are fantastic on what they do, especially coming from the first episode that started it all.
Lucifer has been celebrated for its woody script and dialogue. How did you approach delivering your lines to capture the shows unique tone. I had to do my research. I wanted to give myself time to research my character in the circumstances within the script, including the time. Also, the supernatural creation of all the main characters in my scene. I made sure I was ready to step into character and know the world from which I came.
