Interview by Richard “ItsRichZ” Zeller

Detroit artist Rixh Prez just dropped “BAE” — a fun, feel-good record that’s already turning heads and catching organic love online. Shot in one day and filled with energy, the video shows a lighter, more playful side of the rapper while still staying true to the rawness fans know him for.

In this exclusive with Rolling Hype, Rixh keeps it real about the inspiration behind the track, his creative process, and why “BAE” is just the beginning.

RH: What inspired “BAE”?
Rixh Prez: The vision behind “BAE” was just fitting in my normal day and shooting a video. My jeweler and my camera man really came up with the theme on the spot. “BAE” was inspired by me just having fun being a lady’s man.

RH: Who directed the video?
Rixh Prez: “Masalis shot it.” He did the video and made it what it is. He’s the man behind all my videos so the collaboration is always easy and fire.

RH: What was the goal for this one?
Rixh Prez: The goal was always to speak to the females. A song for them to be whatever they feel. Classy or ratchet. It was important for the females to feel good and have fun. Knowing real men still take care of good women.

RH: What was the vibe like on set?
Rixh Prez: It was a lot of bloopers in the video. I’m naturally silly so I had everyone laughing.

RH: Are the lyrics based on real life?
Rixh Prez: All them bars came from real life. I feel like all females wanna be provided for and given some good love but sometimes it make them crazy.

RH: Is this sound different from what you usually do?
Rixh Prez: The song “BAE” was something different from my normal music but it’s something I will continue to do.

RH: Where do you see this song fitting in?
Rixh Prez: I can definitely hear it on the radio but I’m not sure if it’s a strip club song — but it’s definitely made to have fun with.

RH: What do you want people to take from the song and video?
Rixh Prez: I just wanted people to enjoy the song & video. I just hope they enjoy it.

RH: Do you keep up with streaming numbers or focus elsewhere?
Rixh Prez: I try not to pay attention to the numbers. I keep my head down and get to the money.

RH: How do you stay focused with so much music dropping?
Rixh Prez: I pretty much stay in my own lane. It’s so much music out, you will get lost. Only way I can stay pure is just keep being me.

RH: You don’t usually put women in your videos, right?
Rixh Prez: I usually don’t put females in my videos so it showed a softer side of me in my opinion.

RH: What’s next for Rixh Prez?
Rixh Prez: Just keep making new music. Hit every category and build the brand bigger.

“BAE” is out now on all platforms. Watch the official video and stay locked in with Rixh Prez as he continues to evolve, expand, and rep real life his way.
