Nobu Woods, the 22-year-old singer-songwriter hailing from Queens, NY, is a rising talent in the world of Alternative R&B and Hip-Hop. His journey began in 2017 when he started producing for underground artists. In 2021, he made his debut as an artist, releasing several singles during the pandemic. Notably, he independently dropped his first mixtape, “IRIS,” in early 2022, followed by the 5-track EP “CAPSULE“, and today we’re happy to share his newest album, Midnight Motions.
Nobu‘s latest release, “MIDNIGHT MOTIONS,” showcases his ability to blend smooth R&B vocals with entrancing Alternative R&B production, creating a unique sonic experience. He takes pride in his hands-on approach, having written, produced, and arranged the entire album from the comfort of his bedroom. Influenced by musical greats like The Weeknd, PartyNextDoor, and Tame Impala, Nobu Woods‘ sound is a reflection of his lifelong appreciation for their work, which has shaped his unique style. His ultimate aspiration is to translate relatable experiences into his music, reminding people that they’re never alone in their journey.
The artist’s creative process has been a labor of love, marked by late nights, early mornings, and numerous trials and tribulations. Notably, he collaborated with Rodrigo Barahona during NY fashion week to craft the beat for “JUNE’S INTERLUDE.” While initially planned as a 5-track EP, the album transformed into an 11-track mixtape, with songs like “WHERE WAS U?” and “ENCOUNTERS” becoming his favorites.
Looking ahead, Nobu Woods is committed to continuous innovation. He aims to release visuals to complement his music, immersing listeners in his artistic world. He’s also hard at work on his next project, an experimental and introspective R&B venture, with a singular goal in mind: to change and heal the world through his music.
