Topping off 2024 brimming with a string of acclaimed releases, RHYME is back with the release of her latest single, ‘YOU WANNA FUCK ME’. The single flips AKON’s hit single ‘I Wanna Fuck You’ on its head, taking on a new meaning and a new lease of life. Championing female empowerment, the tracks feature artist Dopegirl Zhane’ and producer-remixer NAØ, giving the track a vibrant flavour that suits both Mainstage EDM floors and sexy techno rooms post dessert. The newest venture comes hot off the back of being a part of Sara Landry and Amelie Lenske’s surprise performance at Coachella, showcasing RHYME’s anthemic release ‘CRUSH’.
The focus remix features a blood-pumping bassline and an irresistible electronic backbeat. Swirling melodies come backed with a resounding thump, keeping the single’s energy soaring. Having issues clearing the original sample from the AKON original, which even AKON’s son couldn’t get over the line, the part was re-recorded by Dopegirl Zhane’ herself, adding to the authenticity of female empowerment throughout. Beyond that, it further highlights never-ending music industry politics, labels continually being broken down for the rise of independents, much like AKON himself.
The alternate R&B versions unleash sultry themes inside an emphatic electronic aura. Championed by the #YWFM and #YWLM hashtags, the tracks forge together infectious bouncing basslines with an R&B finesse. Penned with a feministic twist, the track takes back the reigns of the patriarchy, celebrating the power of independent women. With RHYME delivering a defiant Japanese verse, the track partly reflects the decade she spent in Asia, whilst Dopegirl’s empowering flow comes as charged as it does alluring.
Diving into the track, RHYME explores, “This track holds significance for me as I’m passionate about promoting a feminine perspective and shifting the narrative. I aimed to create a counterpart to the original song, much like a sequel, but infused with feminine energy. My vision is for this song to be played in every strip club like ever! I want this song to be added to every intimate setting playlist for it to empower women to express their full sexual capacity, feel desired, wanted, and in control”.
With Dopegirl Zhane’ adding, “This song is more than just a track, it’s a symbol of trusting your path and honouring the connections that come from following your instincts. The energy, the message, and the vibe all came together naturally. Flipping this record from a woman’s point of view was important to us. It gave the song a bold, fresh perspective. After stepping back for a moment, this release feels like a reintroduction to the start of something bigger”.
