Eclectic beat selection, raw emotion and personal lyrics are just three of the many facets of Premium Mike’s EP “Private Run” that make it stand out among the crowd.
After a lull in creative output — mainly because he was finishing up graduate school — Mike came to the conclusion that a quick and precise project was needed to get him back on track. Choosing basketball as the main theme for the EP, each song revolves around life, love and ball.
“Culminating these five songs together into this scheme was an amazing process,” Premium Mike said. “As an artist, you have to be able to be creative with your delivery in terms of the music in addition to the cover art.”
“I’m proud and happy about this body of work because it shows how far I came at being an artist and just being better over time,” he added.
As for next moves for the Brooklyn native, he’s got stuff stacked. Between upping promotion on his recent releases and creating new content, Premium Mike’s time is at a premium right now.
That said, he’s still taking it one day at a time.
“I’m not rushing the concept,” he said. “I always let everything come to me.”
