Philadelphia’s own Pnb Chizz, born Charles Williams on July 18, 1989 in Voorhees, New Jersey, is an artist whose life reads like a blueprint for perseverance. Raised in Germantown by his grandmother Rosa Bonds, Chizz grew up in a household steeped in resilience, leadership, and community activism. Rosa, who once ran for state senate and helped organize the “Up With Hope, Down With Dope” marches, instilled in him values that continue to guide his career and personal life.
Chizz’s early life was intertwined with history and legacy. His grandmother’s former husband, George Bonds-Bay, was the son of Lawrence Bonds-Bay, builder of the first Morris’s Temple in Philadelphia, rooting Chizz’s story in deep local heritage. Rosa Bonds raised Charles, his sister, and four cousins, creating a home that emphasized responsibility, family, and ambition.
By 11th grade, Chizz had returned to Philadelphia and began turning his passion for music into a serious venture. He launched a music group and business that quickly became successful in the city, selling thousands of DVDs and merchandise while featuring top Philadelphia talent, including Meek Mill and other major names. This early success foreshadowed his future as a music entrepreneur.
After high school, he attended Cheyney University while coping with the loss of his beloved grandmother to cancer. Rosa left the family home to her grandchildren, and Charles stepped into a role of responsibility he hadn’t fully anticipated. Life didn’t slow him down. He moved to West Philadelphia, started a family with his first child Kingston, and maintained his music ambitions, eventually heading to Atlanta to break into the industry.
Atlanta was a proving ground. Chizz faced homelessness for weeks, slept downtown, and walked to studios daily, determined to make a name for himself. His perseverance paid off when Culture Sol took him under their wing, and he found a home at Cross Over Studios, performing covers and freestyling at the end of every set, much like legends of the past who began their rise in live bands. His dedication drew attention from industry insiders, including Young Jeezy, and led to opportunities that would set the stage for his future.
Returning to Philadelphia, Chizz founded PNB – Platinum and Billboard Entertainment, named after the streets he grew up on (Pastorius and Baynton) and officially formed in 2016. Through PNB, he invested in artists, building careers from the ground up. One of the most notable names he helped was PnB Rock, who achieved platinum success and international recognition. While the two experienced early conflicts, their bond ultimately grew stronger. PnB Rock later toured with Chizz, guided him in music, co-wrote songs, and provided valuable industry insight, reinforcing the lifelong brotherhood they share.
Beyond music, Chizz turned his hand to real estate and home renovation, a passion sparked while working alongside Ryan Carter. Learning construction from the ground up, he mastered painting, flooring, sheetrock, roofing, windows, and complete home rehabs. His first solo project in New Jersey showcased his skills as a project manager, handling everything from deck repair to fence installation, all while continuing to run his label and distribute music through The Orchard.
Chizz’s personal life is equally full. A devoted father of three, including his newborn Chuma, he balances family, music, and entrepreneurship with a grounded perspective. His life story informs his artistry, which shines in singles like “One Way,” “Dreams,” “My Brother’s Keeper,” “Space,” and “Thru the Storm.” Each track reflects the struggle, ambition, and loyalty that define his journey.
Looking ahead to 2026, Pnb Chizz is positioned to make an even greater impact. His music resonates with authenticity, his label nurtures talent, and his personal story continues to inspire. From the streets of Philadelphia to stages across the country, Pnb Chizz is a visionary, a creator, and a name that demands attention.
