How does one show love not only for the special woman in their life, but the special women in everyone’s lives? Well, Jreedthedream has summed it all up better than anyone on his latest track “Persephone,” which embodies the feeling of having that trust in a woman who will be there “through [a man’s] hell.”
The Chandler, Arizona native released the song “for the girls who will stick by their man regardless of what he’s going through,” which is not a perspective many artists veer towards when talking about love.
In fact, Jreedthedream alludes to that explicitly in the song’s lyrics.
“There’s a line in there that says ‘She helped rebuild the ship and didn’t let it burn’,” Jreedthedream said. “This is saying, instead of her causing more havoc in the relationship, she’s helping fix the problem [rather than] her adding onto it.”
The MC, who, in his own words, is looking to be instrumental to the industry, cites three relatively different artists as his prime sonic inspirations. The eclectic mix of influences and Jreedthedream’s own sound make for a pleasant listen to something you most likely haven’t heard before.
“My influences are Kid Cudi, Lil Yachty and Midwxst,” he said. “Each of them have a unique sound and are very resilient when it comes to their craft…they are able to get out of their comfort zones and experiment with their sounds and I aspire to be like that with my music.”
As for his future plans, Jreedthedream is staying busy. He’s gearing up to drop a seven-track EP titled Daydreaming, which tells the story of a man visualizing everything that he and his dream girl could be.
“This man is literally just daydreaming about this girl he just met, so he’s visualizing everything they could possibly be,” he explained. “He’s stuck in that fantasy of him and her having a beautiful tragedy and never ending love story.”
