Indie trio Feral Family are back with their sophomore EP So Far Behind, released February 6th, capturing the band at their most emotionally charged to date. Across six tracks, the EP balances raw, groove-oriented intensity with moments of vulnerability and emotional depth, signalling a confident step forward following their 2023 debut album Without Motion.
Opener The Balance sets the tone with its driving riffs and urgent energy, while Down In The Dirt is an impactful conclusion. Endless Night stands out for its thunderous guitar lines and expansive chorus, and Taste Of Life is a true showcase of lead singer Jamie Lowe’s high-ranging vocals. The band drew inspiration from Frank Herbert and Sergio Leone.
Feral Family was named one of the Top Five finalists in a competition to support Only The Poets at their £1 Brixton Academy show. Apricot Magazine has already described them as “one of the most compelling new acts in UK alternative music.”
Lyrically, the EP is rooted in themes of “love, loss and yearning,” according to the guitarist Oscar Woods. Frontman Jamie Lowe praises the band’s new drummer, Regan Grimson, for adding extra force and precision to the band’s sound.
So Far Behind marks a new chapter for the trio, with a promising future ahead of them.
