QUEENS, N.Y. — Independent R&B artist, producer and engineer Mylin Cartier is carving out his own lane in the music industry, bringing originality, passion and resilience to the forefront of his career. Born in Tampa, FL, but raised in Lefrak City, Queens, Cartier draws from a rich background of cultures, Primarily from his Dominican roots, 90s-00s RNB, as well as his experiences and struggles that shaped both his sound and his message.

Music wasn’t always the obvious path for Cartier. “I didn’t want to be just another person doing music,” he said. But after recording his first track with his cousin, Dolo Bambino, Cartier discovered a lifelong calling. From writing songs at work with headphones on to building a unique R&B flavor rooted in tradition but pushed forward with innovation, Cartier has developed a sound that is entirely his own.

His growing fanbase reflects that dedication. His single “Over Me” reached 17,000 streams and its music video earned 12,000 views, while “Rendezvous” climbed past 54,000 streams. His mixtape “A Playa Wit Heart” earned 60,000 streams before being taken down. Cartier has also opened for artists such as Kirko Bangz and Wifisfuneral, further solidifying his presence on stage.

But the journey has not been without challenges. Cartier has faced frustration as other artists have copied elements of his music and style. “Showing love is different. Copying is flattery, but like I said, it’s something I’m still working on dealing with,” he explained. Despite setbacks, he continues to create, determined to keep pushing forward with authenticity.

Looking ahead, Cartier has ambitious goals. “I see myself earning the respect from the pioneers and working with my favorite artists to continue the R&B wave and sound,” he said. He hopes to shift narratives within the music industry while providing for his family and inspiring others to stay true to themselves.

Currently, Cartier is promoting two EPs:

  • Summer Pack – six tracks, including “Fill Ya Hole” and “Slide” featuring OD.
  • Elgueso Pack – six tracks, including “Muy Grande” (music video out now) and “Last Dance,” which samples Queens hip-hop legend LL Cool J’s classic “Doin’ It.”

With thousands of listeners already tuning in and more music on the way, Mylin Cartier is positioning himself as one of R&B’s rising independent voices.
