Some people chase music for fame. For Ninegz, it started as a dare from his little brother.

“I never really thought I’d be making music,” he says, sitting back in his room in Lexington, North Carolina—a town he calls “horrible,” but not without hope. “My little brother told me to hop on a song with him, just for fun. Next thing I know, I’m writing, recording, and actually thinking…maybe this is something I can do.”

Now, with his debut album “4everGz” dropping October 14, Ninegz is determined to prove something—not just to himself, but to his town, his family, and especially his mom. “A lot of people where I’m from don’t make it. I want to be the first,” he says. “Not because I want to be rich, but because I want to show my moms I’m doing something real. I want to be able to give her whatever she wants, just so she knows all her sacrifices meant something.”

Ask him about his goals, and you won’t hear him talk about Bentleys or mansions. For Ninegz, it’s about happiness, stability, and changing the narrative that surrounds his hometown. “I just want to make a little buzz—start here in Lexington, maybe the whole state. I want people to see that you can come from nothing and make something out of yourself. That’s what keeps me going.”

You hear it in his music—the hunger, the honesty, and the hope. “I’m not trying to sound like anybody else. I just want to be me, and maybe that means some people won’t get it at first. But as long as I’m making progress, as long as I’m satisfied with my results, that’s what matters. I want to look back in a few months and say I did this for me, and for my family. That’s the dream.”

And while he’s growing his presence on Instagram (_ninegz) and TikTok (girlthatsnine), there’s one place he could use a little help: YouTube. “I’m trying to figure that out,” he laughs. “But I’m learning as I go. If you want to support someone real, check me out. I’m just getting started.”

For Ninegz, music isn’t about escaping Lexington—it’s about changing it. One song, one story, one dream at a time.
