Following on from their comeback single in 2024, MAYFLOW is back with new music as they unveil their latest anthem ‘MOON’. Penned about the lows of human emotion, the single marks a new era for the group as they set to make waves in 2025.
Kicking off with a spoken word monologue, the track quickly paints its creative palette as it brings forth dynamic percussions before alluring synthesis. Blending elements of techno and electronica, with a healthy pop sentiment, the single stands its ground as a defiant piece of electronic music-making with a powerful message entwined within its grooves.
“I wrote ‘MOON’ about depression and the power that it can hold over somebody’s life. Penning the track was somewhat of an autobiographical experience of the last ten years of my life. I don’t want to tell anyone how to live their life, but depression can affect people in so many ways: it might get better, it might get worse. You might get into the lowest place of your life, but you must remember that life is for living.”
Born during the midst of the COVID-19 lockdown, MAYFLOW is a project that fuses dance and hip-hop to carve a distinct sound. Since meeting online, the band is made up of producer Mayford Fox and the mysterious masked vocalist LowKey. Since debuting in 2021, the pair have released four singles. Tackling a wide spectrum of themes throughout their songwriting, the duo present the likes of mental health, self-acceptance and the nihilism of modern life. Gearing up for 2025, the outfit prepares for a busy year with new music quickly on the horizon.
