Portland-born and Atlanta-based hip-hop artist Lunden Benard (@lunden09) is setting the tone with his newest single + visual for “Step Into My Zone.” Officially out on September 9th, Lunden is closing up the summer with some nostalgic vibes. In face, he’s known for his nostalgic, classic hip-hop sound. Lunden Benard brings a fresh yet familiar vibe to the scene, reminiscent of the golden era of hip-hop from the late ’80s and early ’90s.
Lunden Benard, has always had a deep-rooted passion for music. Growing up in Portland, Oregon, and now residing in Atlanta, Georgia, Lunden’s musical journey began in his childhood years, heavily influenced by his time in the church and the classic LPs of hip-hop’s most influential era. “I’m a big fan of 90s Hip Hop,” says Lunden, “and my influences derive from that era. From De La Soul’s ‘3 Feet High and Rising’ to Eric B. and Rakim’s ‘Paid in Full,’ those records moved the needle in a way you don’t see much today.”
Lunden’s sound is a perfect blend of lyrical depth and engaging beats, drawing inspiration from legendary artists like Rakim, Nas, Michael Jackson, John Coltrane, and A Tribe Called Quest. His upcoming project, slated for release next year, promises to deliver just that—a true classic hip-hop experience. “The project is just classic Hip Hop. Dope lyrics and dope beats. I cover a range of topics on the album. The great thing about the project is it’s a vibe and a feel,” Lunden explains.
With “Step Into My Zone” serving as the lead single from his debut album, fans can expect a series of follow-up singles leading up to the full album release next spring. The album aims to offer something for everyone, combining introspection with relatable themes that resonate deeply with listeners.
