Luma Valen: The Luma Frequency - An Evolution of Pop, Soul, and Consciousness

Luma Valen isn’t just releasing music; she’s launching “Frequencies of a New Era.” The singer, international model, and former luxury fashion director is ready to share her highly anticipated debut EP, featuring the single “Alive.”

Valen describes her unique sound as “The Luma Frequency” – an evolution of pop infused with soul and consciousness that focuses on “emotional truth and awareness” over synthetic sound. We sit down with Luma Valen to discuss how her experiences in global fashion design influence the “cinematic identity” of her brand, the deep connections celebrated in “Alive,” and her ultimate vision for merging music, style, and a higher frequency to create a global movement.

You’ve coined your sound “The Luma Frequency” – an ‘evolution of pop infused with soul and consciousness.’ How did you arrive at this sound, and what distinguishes The Luma Frequency from traditional pop music?

The Luma Frequency was born from the intersection of sound and spirit. I wanted to create music that not only moves you but awakens you.  It’s a vibration that travels through the body, activates new feelings, and expands the heart. It’s where soulful pop meets emotional truth and awareness.

In a world filled with synthetic sound, we’ve brought back the human touch through real, hand-picked musicians, live instruments, and emotion in every note. Music is a mantra; what you repeat, you become. I want people to sing their hearts out and carry that energy and intention within them. We create worlds when we sing. Words alone are powerful, but when sung, they become frequencies and create worlds. Every lyric I write is purposeful and meant to uplift, activate, and remind us of the power that lives inside sound itself.

Your tagline is ‘Frequencies of a New Era.’ What do you hope listeners feel or awaken within themselves when they listen to “Alive” for the first time?

Alive is a song about connection — the friendships that remind us we belong, that we are seen and supported. I hope listeners feel that spark of recognition and gratitude for the people who lift them higher.

We live in an emotionally disconnected world where many seek happiness only in romantic love, forgetting the strength of true friendship. When I was growing up, friendships were everything; they kept us balanced. I wanted to celebrate that feeling again — those bonds that remind us we’re never truly alone.

Each song on the EP carries a different frequency, and together they form Frequencies of a New Era — a journey meant to activate different emotions and awaken forgotten parts of ourselves. Alive is the first of those frequencies, the opening code of this universe. It’s wholesome, intentional music designed to awaken something real in a world that often feels artificial.

The release of “Alive” on November 6th is a huge moment. What are you most excited (and perhaps most nervous) about for the world to hear your debut music?

I’m excited for people to feel my story, not just hear it. Every lyric and harmony carries a piece of who I am. I’m nervous because these songs were given to me to share; once they’re released, they no longer belong only to me. They belong to everyone. That vulnerability is both terrifying and beautiful.

I’m also deeply grateful because I never imagined I’d be recording these songs with Humberto Gatica, someone I’ve admired since I was much younger. When the opportunity came to create this project with him, I knew it would be something magical, and something the world needs right now.

I don’t write music for me; it comes through me. I’m just the messenger. Humberto was the perfect match to bring that message to life, and to translate emotion and light into sound. I believe these songs will travel across the world, touch hearts, and remind people what it means to feel truly alive. My dream is for them to become timeless songs people return to, share, and one day see as part of the fabric of modern music history.

You have a unique background as a graduate of FIDM and a former Design Director who traveled the world creating luxury collections. How does your experience in global fashion design influence the ‘cinematic identity’ of your music brand today?

Fashion taught me to tell stories without words through fabric, color, and form. Traveling shaped my sense of culture and emotion in design. Now, when I write music, I approach it like creating a collection: each song is a chapter, connected through texture, tone, and movement. I see sound as light and fabric intertwining a cinematic universe of color, sound, and soul. From there, I translate those emotions into imagery to create a deeper feeling and complete the sensory experience.

Traveling the world also showed me something profound: that no matter our religion, color, or culture, we all share the same desires to be loved, accepted, and to dream of a better life for ourselves and those we care about. Every culture loves music. Fashion, at its heart, is about expressing beauty, art, and emotion through texture and color. Music does the same, but through frequency and vibration.

When I write, I receive the feeling, the sound, the emotion, and the words, but without the musicians and Humberto’s incredible team, those emotions wouldn’t have their full color and depth. Music is emotion made visible through sound.

I played violin for six years in my school orchestra and eventually became the first violinist in an orchestra. That’s where I discovered that music speaks even when words fall away. It’s why classical music endures, and why the great halls of the world from Carnegie to Lincoln Center remain sacred spaces: because pure melody can tell an entire story and move the soul beyond language.

Your artistic eye now shapes a universe where ‘sound, style, and higher frequency align.’ For fans who encounter your work through your visuals or fashion, what is the connection you want them to make between the style and the sound?

The visuals are an extension of the sound.  They’re both portals. My aesthetic mirrors my music: elegant yet celestial, timeless yet modern. Every outfit, photo, and visual narrative carries energy. I want people to see beauty within themselves when they connect with my work to understand that art can be both visually stunning and spiritually resonant. The way I dress, move, and present my world is an invitation to feel something deeper to step into a frequency where style and soul meet.

Can you give us a glimpse into the development of the upcoming music video for “Alive”? Will your background in fashion and cinematic identity play a major role in its visual storytelling?

The Alive video tells a story about true friendships.  This story is about being there for those you love, even when life pulls you apart. It’s set in a cinematic mansion filled with light and emotion, but I’ll keep some surprises. My team helped bring this vision to life, and it’s heartfelt, elevated, and fun.

My background in fashion shaped everything from styling to mood and rhythm. I was deeply involved in wardrobe direction, and I plan to take even more creative control in future projects with my New York stylist to fully express The Luma Frequency. It’s not just a video, it’s a mini-movie experience.

Beyond your debut single, what is the ultimate creative vision for Luma Valen? Do you see future projects bridging music and fashion in an official, collaborative way?

Luma Valen is more than a name, it’s a movement about light and courage. My vision is to merge music, fashion, and consciousness into one global platform that uplifts people. I’m developing a clothing and candle line, and my 8 Week Activation Journal launching January 1st on www.lumavalen.com inviting fans into a weekly one-on-one journey of self-awakening.

I also see collaborations with designers, music producers, and visual artists who share this vision. Ultimately, I want to build a world where beauty, intention, and creativity unite; where people can both wear and feel the energy.

As an international model, you are represented by EMG Models and profiled on Models.com. Has your perspective on beauty and self-expression changed since launching your music career?

Yes, completely. Music opened my heart to new places I needed to discover. Bringing these songs to life made me realize they were never meant to be kept.  They were meant to be shared. It stripped away the illusion of impossible standards. The more authentic we are, the more magnetic we become. Even in fashion, the meaning of beauty is evolving.  It’s no longer about perfection, but presence. I’m grateful to be part of that shift.

Music has no box. It’s a frequency that can evoke a tear, a smile, or movement through dance. That’s why people can love rap, country, and classical all at once; when a song touches you, genre doesn’t matter.

When I sing, it’s about channeling emotion and energy into something that moves others. Beauty, to me, is energy, honesty, softness, and strength coexisting. Through music, I’ve found a freedom that is raw, innocent, and pure. It’s not about me; it’s about what these songs, gifts from above, are meant to make people feel.

How do you prepare for a major runway show or campaign shoot, and what parallel ‘performance’ techniques do you use when preparing to record a deeply emotional track like “Sad Eyes” or “Love”?

Before a runway, I center myself, deep breath, straight spine, heart open and simply be. I stay disciplined with exercise, healthy eating, and grounding rituals that keep me aligned. Discipline is freedom; it allows me to bring my best self forward. When you’re in the spotlight, you carry a responsibility to inspire, not just to look good, but to radiate presence and energy.

Before recording, it was very similar. I treat both as acts of embodiment of becoming fully present. When I recorded Sad Eyes and Love, I stepped completely into the emotion, like walking onto a stage of the soul. Sometimes the feeling was so strong I had to pause and breathe before continuing. But that’s where the real magic happens, in the surrender, when emotion and sound merge into truth.

You are known for your ‘classic beauty.’ How important is authenticity and raw, emotional truth in your music versus the often highly polished and curated world of high fashion?  storytelling?

Authenticity is everything. Fashion taught me how to create illusion, but music taught me how to create worlds. In my songs, there’s no filter, it’s me delivering a message raw and unguarded about freedom and truth. When you are real, your light becomes magnetic and that’s the essence of The Luma Frequency.
