Putting her stamp on 2025, London-based artist Leiyah is back with the release of her new single ‘I SEE LIGHT’. Her first release since last year’s ‘NEVER LIKED YOU ANYWAY’, she looks to further cement herself as a glowing, rising star.
Diving head first into colourful melody and sonic prowess, ‘I SEE LIGHT’ offers a pulsing flow, shimmering synth lines and nostalgic rhythms a-glow. Coupling together the heady heights of contemporary pop with the alluring dynamics of the eighties, the track offers soaring choruses amid authentic, relatable sentiments. Pushing towards a climactic end, touching DnB and indie in the process, the track showcases the expansive, driven nature of Leiyah’s artistry.
Commenting on the release, she explains, “Me and Will wrote this song based on my own deep and heartfelt struggle for clarity and purpose in a world full of distractions and societal expectations. In this process, I find myself seeking divine guidance, looking to God for direction amidst the uncertainty. This spiritual pursuit adds a layer of hope, suggesting that faith can illuminate my path forward, providing comfort and wisdom in times of confusion.The combination of my inner resilience and spiritual seeking creates a rich tapestry of my experience, illustrating a journey that is as much about personal fortitude as it is about trusting in a higher purpose. Johnny Douglas played a pivotal role in bringing this track to life with his exceptional production skills. Collaborating with icons such as George Michael, Kylie Minogue, and Tina Turner, he infused the song with a unique blend of energy and emotion that resonates deeply with listeners.”
Coming from a very musical family, with her late uncle Earl Lindo of The Wailers having started her on the path of songwriting, Leiyah has seized every opportunity to create and perform. With her vast creative palette stretching from Fleetwood Mac to Janet Jackson, she has moved from strength to strength. Attending the world-renowned BRIT school, she released her debut album in 2019 to strong acclaim, garnering support from BBC Radio 1, 1Xtra and Capital Xtra in the process. Her strong drive for music making has seen her work with Grammy-winning Kevin Tuffy (Kelly Rowland, Chaka Khan) and Reef (50 Cent, Fat Joe) as well as breakthrough performances at Metrofest, Titanfest and a support slot for R&B legend Meli’sa Morgan. With her most recent single, ‘NEVER LIKED YOU ANYWAY’ receiving glowing reviews from WONDERLAND and EarMilk, she takes 2025 by storm with new music on the horizon.
