Born on February 12, 2008, in Delray Beach, Florida, Kahlil Gordon’s story is one of passion, perseverance, and Harlem pride. Moving to Harlem at just three years old, Kahlil grew up surrounded by a community known for its strength and resilience. At the age of twelve, he discovered his love for boxing under the mentorship of Coach Jose Davila, a moment that ignited his journey toward greatness.
Now a senior at Democracy Prep Charter High School, Kahlil embodies balance and dedication—splitting his time between academics, training, and working weekends at Sylvia’s Restaurant, his great-grandmother’s legendary Harlem establishment. This work ethic mirrors the same determination he carries into the boxing ring.
Kahlil’s rise has been nothing short of spectacular. He claimed the title of State Champion at the NY Tournament and was crowned National Champion at the October 2024 PAL Nationals. Most recently, on August 9 in Grand Rapids, Michigan, he earned another National Championship in the competitive 176 lbs division, cementing his status as a rising star in amateur boxing.
At just 17 years old, Kahlil is ranked #4 in the United States in the 176 lbs division and is on track to become #1 in his weight class by December.
But his dreams reach far beyond national rankings. Kahlil’s ultimate goal is to represent either the United States or Jamaica in the 2028 Olympics, bringing home a medal and making his community proud.
Kahlil “KTG” Gordon is more than an athlete—he’s a symbol of Harlem’s fighting spirit, determination, and excellence.
