Chicago-based singer and songwriter Joey P. (Joseph Pacius) made a bold entrance into the music scene with the release of “Walked In”, the first track off his debut EP Star. Originally released on August 4th, 2021, the smooth R&B anthem marked a turning point in Joey’s artistic journey—both in sound and self-belief.
Recorded at just 19 years old, “Walked In” became Joey’s defining moment, showcasing his now-signature blend of chill, airy vocals and crisp, electric R&B production. The track was produced by Eros, and mixed by local Chicago artist Sanato, with recording sessions taking place in the basement studio of fellow creative, The Ultimate Rage.
Channeling inspiration from artists like Brent Faiyaz and The Weeknd, Joey leaned into his vulnerability and natural vocal tone. The result? A timeless, vibey record that didn’t just catch the ears of listeners—it changed the trajectory of his career. “I didn’t know music was for me until ‘Walked In,’” Joey reflects. “When my friends told me they had it on their playlists, or when I heard it in a car for the first time—that’s when it hit.”
The impact was immediate. “Walked In” became Joey’s first song to surpass 10,000 Spotify streams, eventually climbing to over 50,000 plays, with the YouTube visual racking up 12,000+ views. For a debut single, it was a powerful statement of arrival—raw, polished, and full of promise.
And while Joey P.’s journey has since evolved with new releases and a growing fanbase, Walked In remains the spark that lit the fire. A true Chicago original with an R&B soul and pop flair, Joey continues to build a sound that blends intimacy with atmosphere.
