Joey Gutos is back, and he’s set to make an impact, with his new E.P entitled “Coming Home.” Featuring previous well-received singles “Everything (That I Need),” “Bad News,” “Givin In feat. Cori Rios” and “Where She At,” the E.P has a new offering on it – track “Sand To Snow.” Featuring swirling melodies, infectious instrumentation and divine vocal lines, “Sand To Snow” will be sure to pick you up and immerse you. Merging together old school songwriting with modern production, the track pays homage to Gutos’ influences.
Speaking about the single, he says: “Between desert indie-pop and cinematic psychedelia, this romantic tune is for fans of Bahamas, Andrew Bird and Mac Demarco. Celebrated with a release show on Earth Day, the song is a testament to the natural beauty of the Southwest, its vast expanse mirrored in the soaring vocal harmonies and rolling rocks captured by funk inspired drum grooves.
The song began nearly 15 years ago when I was first recording music as a budding teenager. It was all but forgotten for over a decade, but found its way into my world again after a 2-week backpacking trip with my girlfriend across western Europe. The song’s lyrics were born from the diverse cultures, environments and experiences we traversed together and which brought us so much closer together in our relationship.”
Joey Gutos is a genre-bending Indie-Pop artist from the blazing heart of Tempe, Arizona. His music provides a refreshing take on indie pop, as he merges contemporary and older influences together, to create a distinctive and unique sound. With a breadth of music industry experience, Joey spent his formative years collaborating with some of Phoenix’s best musicians. However, it wasn’t until three years ago he decided to go solo – and he’s taken the industry by storm.
Merging together his love of music and sustainability together, Gutos hopes to create and forge a difference. He released his debut single “Everything (That I Need)” on Arbor Day of 2020 and vowed to plant a tree for every 1,000 streams the song receives. The song pays homage to his home state of Arizona and was featured in a mini documentary about the Arizona Trail called “Adventure Lives At Home.” Joey has since worked with The Arizona Trail Association on multiple projects, including his live stream during the pandemic and an hour-long film produced by Echo Coffee that has yet to be released to the world.
With a growing fanbase, and fantastic accolades, Joey Gutos is sure to make 2023 his year.
