Izzadeen Malik El-Amin recently claimed the Tanzanian PST Middleweight Championship after defeating a tough challenger. Reflecting on the journey to the fight, El-Amin shared that the lead-up wasn’t easy.
Earlier this year, two of his fights in Cali, Colombia, were removed from BoxRec’s official record due to local boxing politics. Despite the bouts being legitimate, they still haven’t been reinstated.
“We work hard, travel to other countries, and spend a lot of money to perform. Then BoxRec just takes the fights down—it’s unfair. Tapology and FightFax have all my bouts listed, so BoxRec shouldn’t be the only official source for boxing records,” El-Amin explained.
Other boxers who fought on the same card in Colombia also had their fights removed, sparking frustration across the group. El-Amin made it clear that until those records are restored, he won’t be returning to Colombia to fight.
Meanwhile, on September 5th, El-Amin secured the Tanzanian title with a third-round TKO victory. The bout had originally been scheduled for July but was postponed several times before finally taking place in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.
“The first two rounds were shaky—I wasn’t fully present in the ring. But once I switched on, I picked it up and got the stoppage,” El-Amin said.
With this victory, he adds his second championship belt of the year to his collection.
“I thank God for everything. Another belt, another blessing.”
