Musically, Ivy and the Poison draws inspiration from artists like My Chemical Romance, Avenged Sevenfold, Mitski, Regina Spektor, and Chappell Roan. The show channels their combination of gritty intensity, emotive vocals, and vivid storytelling, while also weaving in the self-aware humor and theatricality found in Bo Burnham’s work. Each song in the show represents a stage in Ivy’s emotional evolution — from toxic obsession and codependency to betrayal, breakdown, and liberation.
The project is actively performed and developed in New York City and has also been showcased internationally in Israel. It continues to evolve, with new songs and story elements regularly added. Performances currently take place at intimate venues and performance spaces around NYC, with future plans to scale to larger theaters and music festivals. Ivy and the Poison’s music is accessible on Spotify, including a full-length demo album that captures the raw emotional energy of the project. Live recordings and visual content extend Ivy’s world beyond the stage.
A concept album and full-length theatrical production are in development, alongside plans for festival submissions and international touring. While Ivy’s story is fictional, it is rooted in Netta’s real-life experiences, allowing the project to explore difficult emotional terrain — trauma bonding, love addiction, and manipulation — through a raw yet thoughtful artistic lens. The result is a hybrid performance that offers something fresh and deeply resonant within the alt and emo-punk music and theatre scenes.
