Rolling Hype: Can you tell us your full name, stage name, and where you’re from?
BandManVic: My real name is Victor Charles. My stage name is BandManVic. I’m from New Orleans.
Rolling Hype: What first inspired you to start making music? Any artists or experiences that shaped your sound?
BandManVic: My mother was always a singer. She always had me around music—she even wrote my first rap at six. My pops owned his own record label in New Orleans, he was real successful, so music always been around me from both sides of my family.
Rolling Hype: How did your music career begin, and what were some of the first steps you took?
BandManVic: Me living a lifestyle a lot of these rappers talk about made my patnas push me to get in the studio and take this music seriously.
Rolling Hype: How would you describe your style of music to someone who hasn’t heard you before?
BandManVic: I’m very versatile. I have music for every mood and genre—if I can hear it, I can turn it into my own.
Rolling Hype: What’s your process when creating new music? Do you start with lyrics, beats, or inspiration from life events?
BandManVic: However I’m feeling at the time. I have to start listening to beats first, the lyrics come naturally.
Rolling Hype: What’s been your proudest or most defining moment in your career so far?
BandManVic: Just seeing how people react to my music and how they gravitate towards me. That made me take it more serious.
Rolling Hype: What challenges have you faced as an artist, and how have you overcome them?
BandManVic: The challenges I’m facing is I have to stay motivated myself. I haven’t had that breakthrough moment, so every dollar and cent is all on me and has to count.
Rolling Hype: What project, single, or album are you currently working on or promoting?
BandManVic: I have a single dropping called “Charged Up.” It’s highly anticipated in my city, followed by a boat load of music!
Rolling Hype: Where do you see yourself as an artist in the next few years?
BandManVic: Rich. I don’t look into the future—I’m focused on the moment.
Rolling Hype: What’s one thing your fans might not know about you that you’d like to share?
BandManVic: I’m from New Orleans but I grew up in Houston since Hurricane Katrina.
