Why release one single at a time when you can drop three at once? That’s exactly what Ido has done with his latest release “Dying! At the Ralph.” Albeit just three tracks — titled “Burn for You,” “2004 Love” and “Song for You” — the mini-project serves as an introduction to the Baldwin Park, California creator’s views on love, vulnerability and more.
Ido divulged his exact inspirations for each track, beginning with “Burn for You,” the three-pack’s intro:
“It was originally a forgotten audio file in my DAW that I stumbled upon while cleaning some things out…the neon, bouncy, dark and grim feel with the elements took me over as I listened to the forgotten track and I immediately got to work on it,” Ido said. “‘Burn for You’ essentially hints towards a love so immense you’d commit self-immolation. It’s obviously a love song that transcends those with or without those strong feelings.”
The long-lost track was created during a “very dense moment” in Ido’s life, who added that he felt as if his “love mirror” was shattered, but his “life mirror” was not.
The project’s second track, “2004 Love,” serves as a personal favorite for Ido, not only production-wise, but lyrical content-wise as well.
“So much playful imagery was used in the process of this song, and personally, it’s the first time I’ve dipped into a new slow and smooth groove with that ‘Ido sound’,” he said. “So what exactly is ‘2004 Love’ and what led to its creation? Leaving somebody in the past while still being in love with them…hence the name ‘2004 Love’.”
“I wanted to make this song as dramatic as possible with the chorus leaving you in tears or simply in awe,” Ido added.
As the old adage goes, “Save the best for last,” and that’s what Ido did on “Dying! At the Ralph” with its closing track “Song for You” with an incredible hybrid of house music and film scoring.
“[This is] the best instrumental I’ve ever produced and the final song in the EP for you to carry away as you leave its embrace,” Ido said. “The drum brushes and the synths creating this wave of live being truly beautiful, the strings accompanied by the bass in the breakdown carrying you away as if nothing is truly wrong in life.”
It’s only up from here for Ido, who is looking to further his operatic pursuits while learning how to compose classical pieces. Nothing can stop this multifaceted music maker from achieving his dreams, and it’s only a matter of time before Ido is up there with the biggest names in the music industry.
