FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – July 2025 — Singer/songwriter Hakeem Romance is making waves in the independent music scene with the release of his high-energy single “Elevated”, crafted for gym lovers and club goers alike. Born on base in Fort Bragg, North Carolina, and raised as an Army brat with deep family ties to Newark, New Jersey, Hakeem draws from a wide range of life experiences to bring powerful, feel-good vibes to his music.
“What makes me different is how I approach the studio,” said Romance. “It’s a blank canvas—I create without restriction. I want people to feel good, feel inspired, and know they can make it too.”
His first exposure to the arts came from his cousin Khadijah, who brought him to an arts school as a child. That experience opened the door to his musical journey, where he has since built a reputation for heartfelt, motivational music.
In 2022, Hakeem was awarded Male Emerging Artist of the Year by the International Singer Songwriters Association (ISSA), where he also serves as an administrator in Richmond, VA. He holds a Music Industry Essentials certification from NYU/TISCH x Billboard – The Clive Davis Institute of Recorded Music, and runs his own independent label, Sing On Everything LLC.
Still, the journey hasn’t come without its challenges. “Marketing music is tough—it changes every two weeks,” Hakeem explained. “You go through every emotion trying to navigate the game. But I put that energy into creating ‘Elevated’—something people can move to and feel empowered by.”
Looking ahead, Hakeem aims to place his music in movies, TV shows, and video games, while continuing to perform at festivals and grow through authentic industry relationships.
