There aren’t many creators out there like MAXUR (pronounced MAIZE-ER). Born in Cleveland, raised in Indianapolis and Idaho, lived in Virginia and now residing in L.A., it may seem as if there’s a lot going on with this creator, and that his creations would reflect that.
Yet, one listen to any song in MAXUR’s discography tells you that music is how he keeps himself sane. But now, he’s coming at things with a new, fiery energy that hasn’t been completely seen yet.
“I am over the whole sad boy thing…I wanted to make music that was a bit more fiery and some of my singles last year showed that,” he explained. “These songs made me reflect on relationships…I’ve never taken revenge on a past lover but there are those ‘F-you’ moments that may produce those dark thoughts.”
Standout tracks from the soon-to-be-released project include “SOBER” and “WHAT YOU WANT,” both of which reflect on the negative aspects of past relationships and remind the listener — and the artist — to remember that being in an abusive relationship is not you or what you need.
Unfortunately for MAXUR fans, this EP may be the last solo effort we hear for awhile, but fortunately for MAXUR fans, he’s teamed up with two artistic friends to create a “trio of sorts” that plans to release their first collaborative song later this year.
Other than that, nothing is bound to change with MAXUR, and why should it? He’s well on his way to success on his terms, and we can only wait and see what he has in store for us next.
