Eva Zakula: Finding Light in the Shadows and Fueling a Revolution Through Sound

Ask Eva Zakula where she’s from, and the answer is layered. The surface is Los Angeles, sun-soaked, sharp-edged, a city where dreams are forged and tested. But dig deeper and you find a root system tangled in contrast: half Serbian, half French Canadian and Northern European, a lineage that’s as much about duality as it is about unity. “I’ve always been pulled between the spiritual and the rebellious, the light and the shadow, the softness and the fire, the internal poet and the performative diva,” Zakula says. “Los Angeles sharpened my edge, but my essence comes from something older, from connection, emotion, and truth.”

That internal tension, between the ancient and the modern, the gentle and the fierce, runs through everything Zakula creates. And this Friday, October 10th, she’s letting it out with “Land of the Darkness,” a rock-edgy pop anthem that isn’t just a song, but “an awakening.” Zakula doesn’t mince words about what this project means: “It’s about empowerment, awareness, and reclaiming our voices in a time where silence is compliance. This is music meant to be played loud, to shake the cages, to remind people they still have fire in their bones.”

The inspiration? The world as it is, messy, beautiful, unjust, and brimming with human spirit. “There’s the love side of life and my spiritual practices on one side, and then there’s the injustice, the manipulation, the noise,” Zakula explains. “Yet, beneath it all, the human spirit refuses to die out. ‘Land of the Darkness’ was born out of frustration but also out of love, love for humanity, for truth, and for that unstoppable light that exists inside every person.”

She sees this moment in culture as a tipping point. “People are waking up to the illusions they’ve been sold. I wanted to give that awakening a soundtrack, something people can turn to when they feel like they’re losing faith in the system, to remember that they are not powerless.”

Zakula’s broader mission is as ambitious as it is heartfelt: “My mission is to promote consciousness through sound. Whether it’s through a ballad, a rock track, or a psychedelic groove, my intention is to wake people up, to get them to feel again, to remember their divinity, to see through the distraction and fear, and to connect back to love.” For her, “Land of the Darkness” is a call to stop being puppets in someone else’s story and start writing your own. “My music will always be about empowerment, truth, and self-awareness, because the revolution starts within.”

Where does Eva Zakula see herself over the next year? She doesn’t hesitate: “In 3 months, I see myself performing more, connecting directly with the people who have felt these messages and need a space to release, to move, to feel alive again. In 6 months, I see visuals and live shows that expand this world, an experience that’s part concert, part awakening. In 12 months, I see growth. More reach, more love, more community, and most importantly, more people finding their own light through my music. I want to build something real, something that outlasts algorithms.”

For anyone looking to join the movement, Zakula is easy to find. She’s on Instagram and TikTok at @evazakula and on YouTube at @evazakulaofficial. If you’re ready to remember your fire and maybe set something in yourself alight, this is where you’ll want to be on October 10th.
