Early Life and Family Roots

Dr. Meleeka Clary was born in Boston, Massachusetts, to Andrew Lee Clary, Sr., an entrepreneur, and Larriana Clary, a model. With a heritage blending Black, Cherokee Indian, and Portuguese roots, she grew up in Mattapan as the sixth of eight children in a blended family.

Her father, a dreamer with a sharp business mind, instilled in her the drive to succeed despite battling the struggles of substance abuse and life’s challenges. Her mother, a devoted Christian woman, endured her own battles with mental health. Through it all, both parents encouraged Meleeka’s creativity and independence, recognizing her talents early in dance and performance.

The Birth of Creativity and Determination

By age eight, Meleeka was enrolled in Vicki’s School of Dancing and Acting, where she honed her skills in tap, ballet, and jazz. At 13, she shined on stage as “Harriet Tubman” in her middle school play, marking her first taste of acting success.

Life, however, was far from easy. After her parents’ illnesses and the passing of her father when she was just 18, Meleeka took on adult responsibilities early. She worked multiple jobs, cared for her mother, and fought to complete her education. Her determination led her to graduate high school, pursue higher education in Criminal Justice, and eventually branch into law, psychology, and real estate.

Overcoming Adversity and Rising Stronger

Meleeka’s journey was not without trials. She faced single motherhood, health scares, and divorce, yet she consistently transformed challenges into stepping stones. With three children and a mother to support, she powered through academic and professional pursuits, earning degrees in Criminal Justice, Paralegal Studies, and Clinical Psychology. Today, she continues her doctoral studies while balancing a renewed acting and modeling career.

Her resilience and authenticity inspired her acclaimed independent film, Three Corners of Deception (2020), now streaming on Prime Video. The project is both personal and universal, touching on themes of love, betrayal, and the pursuit of justice.

The Dr. Meleeka Clary Show: A Platform for Positivity

Expanding her impact beyond film and academia, Dr. Clary launched The Dr. Meleeka Clary Show, powered by Sweet Recordings. The program highlights stories of transformation, resilience, and positive change—mirroring her own life philosophy.

Through heartfelt conversations and thought-provoking discussions, Dr. Clary gives a platform to voices that inspire growth and empowerment. The show has already welcomed respected guests such as Ernie Hudson, Richard Lawson, and Lawrence Jacob Hylton, showcasing her ability to connect with influential figures in entertainment and beyond.

A Legacy of Change and Empowerment

Dr. Meleeka Clary is more than an actress, producer, and psychologist in training—she is a symbol of perseverance and empowerment. Her life story reflects a woman who turned hardship into strength, loss into lessons, and setbacks into comebacks.

With her ongoing academic pursuits, continued creative projects, and The Dr. Meleeka Clary Show, she stands as a reminder that change is not only possible—it is powerful.
