Showing his skills as a writer to the fullest extent, nebula. has created something one of a kind with his newest song “Jive.” He was inspired by those who don’t recognize his unique talents, and one listen to “Jive.” proves exactly that: this man is a rising star.
The Gonzales, Louisiana native cites several big names — Smino, Earl Sweatshirt and MIKE, to be exact — as his secondary influences, but he keeps it in the family when it comes to his main inspiration.
“My dad in particular is where I get my writing skills because he is an amazing poet and back in the day he was a great rapper,” nebula. said. “He’s known as the drunken poet because his words are intoxicating; I aspire for my pen to be like that as well.”
And while full of braggadocio, nebula’s lyrics do retain a sense of humility — a contrast not seen in many other rappers.
“People doubt my ability constantly and I want to prove that I have a lot to offer,” he said. “My pen and creativity are truly one of a kind. That doesn’t mean I’m better than anybody, it just means I have something different to bring to the mix as well.”
As for “Jive.” itself, nebula. enlisted the talented JUNE! to assist with production, a producer who “gets it right every time” for the budding MC. Engineering, however, was handled by the man himself.
“I’ve been doing the engineering for my songs ever since I started making music,” nebula. explained. “I’m not great at it by any means but I can do a little…it’s become really fun for me to do because I can experiment with my vocals and make them sound unique to me and me alone.”
So, what’s next for nebula. after this track? He’s making more music and working on getting his name out there; in fact, he’s got two more songs that are almost done and advises listeners to be on the lookout for new releases sooner than you think.
nebula. is a spacey artist creating his own lane in the music game one fire song at a time. He’s got a lot to talk about and a clear message to fans and haters alike:
“One small detail I think y’all should know is to not sleep on me and not doubt me,” he said. “That’s all.”
