CLARKSDALE, Miss. — Mississippi native Matt Swisha is using his voice and vision to spark change with a bold new message: your past does not define your future. Born and raised in Clarksdale, Swisha has faced personal trials, community criticism, and the weight of misjudgment—but he’s turning his pain into purpose through music that uplifts and empowers.
“I’ve been portrayed as a wicked thug for defending myself, misunderstood for standing alone, and even betrayed by those closest to me,” Swisha said. “But I’m here to show that you can overcome that darkness without losing your light.”
Inspired by iconic artists like Michael Jackson and drawn to the power of performance, Swisha uses music not only to express his story, but to offer solutions. His upcoming single “Shoot For The Stars,” dropping June 29, is aimed at uplifting women and challenging societal norms, encouraging self-respect and spiritual awareness. In addition, fans can expect the release of his thought-provoking new music video “Rebellious” on June 14.
Swisha’s evolution as an artist is deeply rooted in personal transformation. Having once created destructive music, he credits faith and scripture for helping him shift to a more redemptive and inspiring direction. “Calling out to God and applying the scriptures to my life changed everything,” he said. “Now, I want to bring that same clarity to my audience.”
His goal is to build generational wealth, change lives, and prove that positive rap can be just as powerful—if not more—than anything dominating the charts today.
“My focus is planting self-sufficiency and morals into the minds of listeners,” Swisha added. “There’s a different kind of message out here, and I’m living proof of that.”
