My name is Douglas NV Bell, better known as OG Dougie. I was born on June 9, 1993, in St. Louis, Missouri, to Veralee K. Johnson and Michael Bell Sr. Growing up on the Northside of St. Louis in the Greater Ville area, I found my escape in music and football—two passions that shaped the man I am today.
From an early age, I began studying vocal music at Gateway Elementary. That foundation led me to instrumental training at Gateway Middle School, where I learned the clarinet and trumpet. My love for rhythm truly took off at Soldan International Studies High School, where I made the bold switch to percussion. It was a challenge at first, but I embraced it—just as I did the challenge of playing Varsity Football. Back then, I thought football was my destiny. God had other plans.
Even while chasing touchdowns, I was freestyling with friends and family, inspired by my cousins’ crew, Root and Tree, and the lyrical genius of my big brothers, Mike Bell Jr. and Tyrone Bell. Their passion for music sparked something deep inside me. I started writing poetry, creating rhymes, and discovering my true voice.
Losing my father in 2024 ignited a fire in my soul that can never be extinguished. Through my pain, I found purpose. World Wide International Records, LLC, alongside CEO G.O.A.T Lisa Marie and BossLadyVP Michelle, gave me the platform to let my legacy live on through music—long after I’m gone.
It has been an honor to bless the stage for DJ Kay Slay Weekend for the past three years, and I am committed to bringing that energy and passion to the stage for many more years to come.
This is more than music. This is my purpose. My story is proof that no matter where you come from or what you’ve lost, you can rise above and inspire others. I’m here to honor my father’s memory, to keep my city’s spirit alive, and to prove that passion and perseverance can change the course of a life.
