Baltimore, MD continues to be a breeding ground for authentic Hip Hop voices, and Big Jon, born Jonathan Harris, is quickly proving he belongs among the city’s most promising rising talents. Born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland, the 32-year-old Hip Hop artist brings a story rooted in perseverance, passion, and purpose, backed by years of dedication to the craft.
Big Jon’s journey began early. He has been writing music since the age of 16, performing in front of his high school peers and church audiences, developing both confidence and stage presence long before stepping into professional studios. After spending several years working in broadcasting, Big Jon felt the pull of music calling him back. That moment marked a defining decision to fully return to his roots and pursue music not as a hobby, but as a career.
That commitment became official with the release of his debut EP, “Here I Come,” which dropped on January 1st, 2025, across all major streaming platforms. The project features six tracks that introduce Big Jon’s sound, personality, and hunger to the world. The EP serves as both a statement and a promise that a new voice has arrived and is ready to be heard.
Following the EP’s release, Big Jon wasted no time building momentum throughout 2025. He began performing at small open mic venues across Baltimore, sharpening his live performance skills while steadily expanding his local fan base. His growing buzz led to podcast interviews, multiple published articles, and even an interview with Chicago internet radio station 77.3, further extending his reach beyond his hometown.
Big Jon continued his rise with the release of new singles, including “Level Up,” recorded at Lounge Studios in New York City on September 3rd, 2025. The track reflected his evolving confidence and determination to elevate his career. In October, he returned to Baltimore to record more music, starting with his bold diss track “Don’t Mess With The Flock,” released on November 5th, 2025. The song gained attention for its unapologetic critique of the Baltimore Ravens organization, calling out poor on-field performances and repeated playoff disappointments during the Lamar Jackson era.
Momentum continued with the release of “Persona” on December 24th, 2025, followed by “The Flames,” which arrived on January 28th. Each release showcased Big Jon’s growth, versatility, and willingness to speak his truth through music.
Beyond the studio, Big Jon remains relentlessly focused on the bigger picture. He is actively seeking a manager and agent to help push his career toward mainstream exposure, with ambitions to tour nationwide and collaborate with major artists such as Olivia Rodrigo, Sabrina Carpenter, Tate McRae, Megan Thee Stallion, Alicia Keys, Kendrick Lamar, Eminem, Imagine Dragons, and more. These aspirations are fueled by strong creative visions and a belief that genre boundaries are meant to be broken.
At the heart of Big Jon’s drive lies a deeply personal motivation. His journey was initially inspired by his mother, but in October, tragedy struck when his grandmother passed away at the age of 89 due to kidney failure. Their bond was incredibly close, and her passing became a turning point in his life. After her funeral in November, Big Jon made a vow to honor her memory by chasing his dreams relentlessly and ensuring her legacy lives on through his success.
Big Jon is not stopping. He is not giving up. No matter how challenging the road becomes, his resolve remains unshaken.
Currently, Big Jon is working on two new songs, including “Cosmos,” which is in production, and an upcoming single titled “Reload,” scheduled to be recorded in March in Los Angeles, California. These upcoming releases signal another exciting chapter in his journey and hint at the next level of his artistic evolution.
