Philadelphia, PA —A’Legends Helping Hands Foundation, founded by award-winning author, actress, and cultural ambassador Jenelle Alexia, has expanded its humanitarian outreach with a coordinated relief mission supporting families impacted by Hurricane Melissa across Jamaica.

Mobilizing community partners, volunteers, and donation hubs, the foundation gathered and shipped essential supplies including food, toiletries, baby care items, bedding, first-aid materials, and household necessities ensuring direct support reached those most affected.

The relief effort was made possible through collaboration with key partners who contributed resources, space, and hands-on assistance:

  • Garel McKen, owner of Port Royal Cuisine, for providing critical support and standing in solidarity with the Jamaican community during this urgent time.
  • Shana Davis, owner of Shana Caribbean Café, for offering her establishment as a trusted collection site and contributing both time and resources to the initiative.
  • Ishana Closet, whose owner not only donated a significant volume of essential items, but also volunteered her time to assist with sorting and organizing supplies for shipment.
  • Recording artist Guidance, who supported the relief mission on-site, helping prepare and coordinate donations.

A’Legends Helping Hands Foundation also acknowledges the generous contribution from Rediscover Africa Org, a nonprofit operating in New Jersey, USA, and Ghana, West Africa. In alignment with their mission to connect the global African diaspora to the motherland, this partnership supported relief efforts for Jamaican families during this period of devastation reflecting the strength of unity across cultures and continents.

Additionally, the foundation has partnered with organizations advancing ongoing relief initiatives, including the Caribbean American Chamber of Commerce, which collaborated with the Jamaican Consulate of Philadelphia, led by Christopher Chaplin, to further amplify outreach and mobilize community support.

“This relief effort was about more than responding to a storm it was about dignity, community, and showing up for our own,” said Jenelle Alexia. “We are deeply grateful to every partner and volunteer who helped make this possible. The work does not stop here we remain committed to uplifting communities at home and across the diaspora.”

The initiative adds to A’Legends Helping Hands Foundation’s expanding record of service, which includes feeding over 100 individuals on Thanksgiving, sponsoring children, supporting schools, and providing resources to families in need across multiple regions.
