Ace Poetik is a hip hop artist and rapper from Louisville, Kentucky whose style can’t be pigeonholed. In his first album, Deeper Than Most, released in 2020, contains a gallery of different styles. Anything from underground beats to trap to R&B flavoured and melodic appears on the album, and Ace is able to change his flows to fit each one. Not only a gifted storyteller and writer from a young age, it’s clear that Ace understands meter and tone need to be interpreted by a lyricist, and he does it beautifully.
Born into a musical family with his mother a talented singer and his grandfather a pianist and songwriter, Ace Poetik was always good with words as well. He became published at the age of ten, but his focus was always on music. Eventually, he learned to marry the two and has been releasing since 2020 with increasing success, with his most popular track, “Lost Souls” reaching over 150,000 streams on Spotify.
Ace‘s new upcoming track, “Tears of a Melody” not only flexes his storytelling ability but is deeply personal on top of being meaningful and relatable. With no fear of vulnerability and a riveting flow that pulls the listener into the story, Ace gives a moving account of a trauma he suffered in a car accident in 2023.
“This song came from a car accident that almost took my life. The wreck was a huge eye opener for me. So yes the song is sad but there’s also motivation in its recipe. A reminder that tomorrow is promised to no one, and if you have a dream u should let nothing stop you from turning that dream into reality. It’s your dream for a reason. Only you can make it true.
The song is going to be released on the one year anniversary of the wreck.”
With a classic 90s R&B beat and a haunting vocal backing him, Ace‘s verse has a sort of chill and grainy quality, conjuring the same tone of Warren G and Nate Dogg’s classic “Regulators“. The subject matter here, however, is much deeper. Switching up the meter on almost every verse, Ace not only accounts the accident itself but gives it an uplifting spin as he talks about everything he learned from the near death experience and the time spent healing.
“You have to learn to be selfish when you’re creating your forever. When u reach your lowest, God is resetting you to rebuild stronger. It’s a lesson in every situation. One thing every heart feels, is pain. It’s not what you go through. It’s how you choose to get through it.”
“Tears of a Melody” was released on the one-year anniversary of the wreck, July 4, and is available now on all major streaming platforms.

Ace tells his story: “I was born in Louisville ky. Welcomed into the world by only my mother I never got a chance to have my father. He was killed by a drunk driver on his motorcycle when my mother was only 2 months pregnant. With a short end of the stick start to life I faced a life of poverty. Saw things I wasn’t supposed to see n also did things that wasn’t good for me. With a natural gift of putting words together. I became a published writer at the early age of 10. Unknowing what writing could do for me. It was never my main focus. With music bein a foundation of my family tree. From my mother having the voice of an angel to my grandfather who could write a song go to his piano and play the perfect Melody while he sung his own words to bring them to life. Sometimes people are just meant to do something. Music is what I’m meant to do.”
