From a Childhood of Beats to a World of Genres
SAGE didn’t just stumble into music; he grew up in it. His dad and older brother laid the groundwork with a steady diet of rap and hip-hop, but young Devin wasn’t content to stop there. Like a kid in a candy store, he explored all kinds of genres, eventually developing his own eclectic taste.
“I’ve been at this since I was 11,” SAGE recalls. “I used to drop tracks under different names—none of which I’ll reveal because, let’s be honest, they were cringe—but I became ‘SAGE’ in high school and dropped my first official track at 17. No regrets.”
The Hustle is Real (and Exhausting)
Balancing a college schedule, work, and a budding music career isn’t for the faint of heart—or those who like to sleep. “Funding your dream while juggling school and work is no joke,” SAGE admits. “It’s like I traded my sleep schedule for studio time. Stressful? Absolutely. Worth it? You bet.”
What keeps him going? A killer support team, including Zach (OTN), Ashbanzzz, Mickey, and Oliver. “These guys are the real MVPs,” he says. “They encourage me, push me, and make sure I don’t lose my mind completely.”
The DIY Studio Saga
If you think SAGE’s dedication ends at sleep deprivation, think again. Take the recording of his track WORLDWIDE. “Zach and I rolled up to the studio, only to find it closed because of bad weather. Did we reschedule? Nah. We parked in some random neighborhood, pulled out the gear, and recorded in the car. You can literally hear it in the track because we were working with what we had. Talk about ‘car tunes.’”
The RSM Vision
RealSageMafia isn’t just a name—it’s a movement. SAGE wants RSM to grow into a hub for artists from all backgrounds and genres. “We’re small, but we’re scrappy. I want RSM to be the place where creativity thrives, whether it’s rap, rock, or some weird hybrid nobody’s tried yet.”
Big Dreams (and Even Bigger Plans)
SAGE’s goals go beyond producing bangers. “In a few years, I see myself with a solid spot in the music industry,” he says. “But I also want to launch a record label, drop a clothing line, and work on films and TV shows. Why stop at one dream when you can chase a bunch?”
His philosophy? “Keep grinding. Nothing comes easy, and frankly, screw what people think. At the end of the day, it’s about your family and close friends—the ones who’ll always have your back.”
