Travis Scott, James Blake and Ludwig Göransson have joined forces for “When I’m Home,” an atmospheric new track created for Christopher Nolan’s cinematic adaptation of The Odyssey. The collaboration appears on the film’s original motion-picture soundtrack and plays during its closing credits, providing a reflective conclusion to the epic journey.

Running for approximately five minutes, “When I’m Home” closes the soundtrack’s 23-song tracklist. The record combines Scott’s distinctive vocal style with Blake’s haunting delivery and Göransson’s expansive cinematic production, creating a piece that feels closely connected to the film’s themes of distance, survival and the desire to return home.

Rather than delivering a conventional rap single, Travis Scott embraces the dramatic setting surrounding the project. His hazy verses and harmonies blend with James Blake’s emotionally charged vocals, while the production gradually builds around them. The result is a spacious and introspective composition that reflects the long, uncertain journey faced by Odysseus.

Göransson and Blake handled the song’s production, with Scott, Blake and Göransson all receiving composer credits. Director Christopher Nolan is also credited as a co-writer, further connecting the music to his vision for the film. The track becomes an extension of the story rather than simply functioning as an unrelated promotional single.

“When I’m Home” also continues the creative history between Scott and Nolan. The two previously worked together on “The Plan,” the closing theme created for Nolan’s 2020 science-fiction thriller Tenet. Their latest collaboration expands that relationship by giving Scott both an onscreen and musical role in The Odyssey.

Scott appears in the film as a bard, helping open the story by recounting the victories and adventures of Odysseus. He briefly returns later in the movie, strengthening the connection between his performance within the film and his contribution to its closing song. Nolan previously explained that he viewed rap as comparable to the oral storytelling tradition through which ancient epics were originally passed between generations.

James Blake’s presence is equally fitting. His restrained vocals and experimental approach bring vulnerability to the track, balancing Scott’s psychedelic delivery and Göransson’s grand production. Blake and Scott have worked together before, but “When I’m Home” places their chemistry within an entirely different setting shaped by mythology and cinematic storytelling.

The accompanying soundtrack is led by Ludwig Göransson, whose work has become an important part of Nolan’s recent films. After composing the score for Oppenheimer, Göransson returns with music designed to support the massive scale, danger and emotional depth of The Odyssey. “When I’m Home” stands apart as the soundtrack’s primary vocal collaboration while still fitting naturally into the larger score.

With its combination of modern rap, experimental soul and dramatic scoring, “When I’m Home” offers a fitting conclusion to Christopher Nolan’s latest epic. The collaboration allows Travis Scott, James Blake and Ludwig Göransson to approach the ancient story from a contemporary musical perspective while preserving its central themes of separation, perseverance and returning to the place one belongs.
