For Wayne Sharer, music was never just a hobby. It was always waiting for the right moment to return. After learning saxophone in elementary school and continuing through college, life eventually pulled him in another direction. He accepted a commission in the US Navy and built a career in aviation, leaving little time to fully explore music. Years later, after retirement, it was his wife who encouraged him to pick up the saxophone again and reconnect with that forgotten part of himself. That decision changed everything.
Following a difficult hospital stay where his wife remained by his side day and night, Sharer felt inspired to write music for her. What began as a personal gesture turned into something much bigger. He wrote “Love’s Gold” and “We Love Forever,” two deeply heartfelt songs that ignited his passion for songwriting. Since then, he has written 26 original tracks in just two years, diving headfirst into modern rock while keeping the emotional honesty that sparked his return.
Sharer’s sound blends classic rock energy with the smooth emotion of saxophone melodies. Inspired by legendary acts like Queen and the expressive playing of Kenny G, he combines soaring rock arrangements with the warmth of his soprano saxophone. His music also carries influences from bands and composers like Boston and Vangelis, while still carving out a sound that feels deeply personal and sincere.

One of the biggest challenges for Sharer has been learning how to promote independent music without losing the authenticity behind it. He openly admits that marketing and exposure never came naturally to him. Still, his focus has remained on creating music with meaning rather than chasing trends. That honesty has also shaped another important part of his catalog: finding a way to blend faith, inspiration, and rock music without sacrificing the power and energy of the genre.
Now, Sharer is preparing to release his third album, Life and Family, a project inspired by resilience, patriotism, faith, and the people closest to him. The album will include tracks like “Rise From the Fire,” a song honoring the American journey while carrying an uplifting message about perseverance and hope. Even after decades away from music, Sharer has proven that creativity does not expire with age. Sometimes it simply waits for the right reason to speak again.
For Wayne Sharer, the comeback was never about fame. It was about gratitude, purpose, and finally turning life experiences into songs worth remembering.
