There’s a certain grit that comes from growing up in South Carolina—a kind of toughness that can’t be faked, the kind you earn. Frankie Rich has that grit. Born and raised in the same place that gave the world Kevin Garnett and Duke Dennis, Frankie carries the spirit of his hometown everywhere he goes.
Music wasn’t just background noise for Frankie; it was always the soundtrack to his life. But it wasn’t until the death of his brother that music turned into something more—a way to survive, to heal, and to let the pain out. “Losing my brother, that’s what really made me find a way to express the pain,” Frankie says. “Music became the only language that made sense.”
Frankie’s story isn’t the kind you hear in every song. He’s lived through what most people only see in movies. “You know how everybody got the stories of their father being a kingpin? I’m one of them kids. I done seen it all, I done been through it all. We done took losses that we can’t shake that from, but we still manage to keep it going every day.” That’s the difference, he says. The stories are real, and they’re his to tell.
When it comes to lyrics, Frankie doesn’t obsess over a single line. The most important thing he says on every track is his own name. “Frankie Rich. That’s my favorite. I say it in all my songs, 24/7.” For him, it’s more than a name—it’s a reminder of where he’s been and where he’s headed.
Frankie’s vision? It’s simple: go straight to the top, and bring others with him. “My plans is to go straight to the top and give people a chance just like me.” He’s not just making music for himself—he’s making it for anyone who’s ever felt stuck, anyone who’s ever lost someone, anyone who needs to know it’s possible to keep going.
He’s not in a rush to drop all his music at once. Frankie wants his audience to wonder what’s coming next, to feel that anticipation with every single he releases. “I want to promote my singles because I can’t give them all my music at one time. I got to make them feel like, what do this man got coming next?”
Every track, every lyric, every story—it’s all Frankie Rich. He’s got a lot more to say, and he’s just getting started.
