In a culture often dominated by trends and shortcuts, 2wiin Kingz stand out as a duo rooted in authenticity, lyrical sharpness, and a shared bond that literally runs in their DNA. As identical twins, they not only share a brotherhood but also a competitive edge that fuels their artistry. Inspired by greats like Joyner Lucas, Kendrick Lamar, Lloyd Banks, and J. Cole, the pair are carving their own lane—one that emphasizes storytelling, truth, and the kind of lyricism that hip hop once thrived on.
From navigating the challenges of social media suppression to crafting albums that speak directly to their core audience, 2wiin Kingz are proving that staying true to their message is more than a strategy—it’s a calling. In this interview, they open up about their process, their struggles, and what they hope to leave behind in hip hop history.
When did you realize music was more than just a hobby?
We realized rap was more than hobby when we saw how people reacted to our music and how they resonated with the message. Made us focus more on intricate details of the lyrics, message and song titles.
How do you approach the creative process?
We start with the beat first, find a feeling we want to explore and creatively deliver how we feel.
Who inspires you, and if you had to choose one song that defines your artistry, which would it be?
We are inspired by Joyner Lucas, Kendrick Lamar, Lloyd Banks, J. Cole. If we had one song that can tie in our whole art it would be “Or Chillin” off the & Froze Summer album. It’s poetic and evokes a feeling and lyrical in nature. But honestly, we have too many to choose so that is in question depends on who’s asking.
What has been your biggest challenge or obstacle so far?
The biggest challenge and hardest obstacle is probably navigating the real vs the fake on social media, and gauging who actually fucks with you analytically. We still deal with this. As well as dealing with going against mainstream culture—we constantly get shadow banned or suppressed because lyrically we are far beyond what they push. We just feel like eventually when the game comes back around to lyrics it will be hard to overlook us then.
How does storytelling show up in your music?
Storytelling—we are very open with majority of our experiences and express it through our music so it’s more therapeutic than anything. We were challenged to be more open so the song that comes to mind hasn’t come out yet but will soon. If I had to choose one then it would be “Of Your Past” off It’s Funny How Life Is album. This was a deeply personal song and is a real experience we shared. And our look on life after has been forever changed.
What do people misunderstand most about you?
The most misunderstood thing about us is we literally are twins and everyone always thinks it’s just one of us. So we compete on every song and track. We try to sound different, flow different, and lyrically annihilate each other on every verse. As far as authenticity—we keep it real every word we rap so you get how we feel and never question if that was real or not.
How do you want to be remembered?
A year from now I would love if they remember us from doing something never done before in 50+ years of hip hop—that’s telling a spoken word poem with our track titles and album names from beginning to end.
What’s next for 2wiin Kingz?
We are doing two separate albums for our core base and showcasing 2wiin Kingz separately, letting them hear us in two different spaces. We’ve got a lot in store and we are putting it solely on our website.
