The glow of a dozen modular synthesizers pulses like a constellation in the dimly lit studio where Metapersural crafts his otherworldly soundscapes. Once a bassist in cover bands, channeling the raw energy of classic rock and the sun-soaked grooves of Cali roots reggae, he now spends his nights coaxing unearthly textures from self-designed software instruments—creating what he describes as “music for time travelers.” His evolution from live-band musician to electronic innovator reads like the plot of a sci-fi novel, one where sound becomes the vehicle for transcendence.
“I grew up playing in bands where we’d argue about guitar tones for hours,” Metapersural recalls, adjusting parameters on his custom TULLY EDM VIBE plugin. “Then I heard early Kraftwerk records and realized electronics could express what guitars never could—the feeling of being untethered from time.” This epiphany led him down a rabbit hole of vintage synthesizers, algorithmic composition, and psychoacoustic research, emerging with a sound that blends the hypnotic drive of trance with the depth of ambient and the edge of industrial techno.
What sets Metapersural apart in today’s crowded electronic landscape is his obsessive approach to sound design. Each track begins as a technical experiment—perhaps exploring how granular synthesis can mimic the resonance of ancient Tibetan singing bowls, or how rhythmic patterns might evoke the sensation of time dilation. “I’m not just making dance music,” he explains. “I’m trying to create sonic environments that feel alive, that breathe and evolve in ways that surprise even me.”
This meticulous craftsmanship recently earned him placements on Spotify’s influential New Friday Dance and New Electronic playlists, a rare achievement for an artist working outside mainstream EDM formulas. Industry insiders have taken note of how his tracks maintain dancefloor energy while offering the compositional sophistication typically found in film scores or avant-garde works. “There’s something alchemical happening in his music,” notes Ravi Gupta, curator of the Electronic Explorations podcast. “It’s technically brilliant but never clinical—there’s always this sense of wonder pulsing beneath the surface.”
Now preparing his most ambitious project yet, Metapersural is pushing further into hard techno territory while maintaining his signature mystical aesthetic. Early demos from his upcoming EP suggest a darker, more percussive direction—imagine the rhythmic precision of Jeff Mills filtered through the cinematic sensibility of Vangelis. He’s simultaneously developing an immersive live show that will incorporate generative visuals reacting in real-time to his modular setups.
“Performing live is the next frontier,” he says, gesturing to the maze of cables and controllers crowding his workspace. “I want audiences to feel like they’ve stepped into one of my tracks—surrounded by sound, bathed in light, transported.” With plans for festival appearances and a potential collaboration with a Berlin-based visual artist, 2025 could be the year Metapersural’s cosmic vibrations reach their widest audience yet.
