San Bernardino, California’s own Jonny Flores combines vibrant, soulful tones with rich heartfelt melodies and introspective lyrics on each of his tracks, and one of his latest efforts, “WaRO” — which stands for “Want a Real One” — is no different.
Influenced by the likes of Drake, Ty Dolla $ign, PnB Rock and T-Pain, Jonny slides over instrumentals with ease, especially when writing about something he knows well; in this case, a place of heartbreak.
“I was in a place where I felt connected to love songs and heartbreak songs,” he explained. “So I wrote exactly that…being real is so rare; it’s a place in your life where maturity meets reality, and you see yourself and your life side by side.”
It’s that interconnectedness that sets Jonny Flores apart from the sea of upcoming R&B artists, in addition to the motivation behind his entire creative process.
“I hope that my music will make the legends proud as well as represent my utmost respect for the culture,” he said. “The depth I want for you to achieve when you listen to my music is to chase the realest version of yourself.”
Next on the to-do list for Jonny Flores? He’s going to keep releasing consistently — with a focus on music that can unite listeners and spur them to think about themselves.
The vulnerability and authenticity is what makes Jonny Flores different, and his work ethic proves that he is going to achieve success, one way or another.
