It’s easy to make references that you understand, but being able to relate to many people on a nationwide — or even worldwide — audience takes serious skill. Fortunately for Twon Brady, he takes his love for all things TV and film and meshes them with his love for the genre of hip-hop quite well.
The Buffalo, New York-born artist grew up in Frederick, Maryland, but has since moved again to Augusta, Georgia. His budding discography continues to grow in the Peach State, as evidenced by his recently released single “Spiderverse” and his plans for a Dragon Ball Z-inspired project.
“My fiancé and I went to see “Spiderman: Across the Spiderverse” when it came out, and the movie and the soundtrack stuck with me…it was fire,” Twon said. “Later that night, I came up with the idea to write a song as if I was featured on [the film].”
The result was “Spiderverse,” a collaboration with Jayhaan, who also happens to be Twon Brady’s cousin and appears on his single “Can’t express.” The Waytoolost-produced track was engineered by another close collaborator, Trelle at Yellow Tape Studio in Augusta.
Twon’s next project, titled Dead or Alive, is inspired by the animé series Dragon Ball Z, furthering his desire to incorporate his two loves together. Simply put, it’s only a matter of time before Twon Brady pops up on your radar with his incredible and unique takes on rap, pop culture and everything in between.
