To put it simply, Chronic says his latest single “Think of You” is about how he used to deal with heartbreak. One listen to the introspective lyrics — delivered over an instrumental that he describes as “a mixture of EDM with a touch of Jersey club” — tells you that there is more than meets the eye to the Drexel Hill, Pennsylvania native.
“Whenever I felt down or sad, I would always go to drugs or alcohol so I can tolerate the pain,” Chronic explained. “I never spoke to anybody because I always felt like a burden to others if I ever opened up around them.”
Thus, Chronic takes his feelings to the studio and uses the microphone as his therapist; one must mention that his sonic influences also help guide him in music and life.
“[My first influence] is Drake, because he taught me that talking about heartbreak is okay,” Chronic said. “The second one is Kid Cudi [since] he taught me that it’s okay to not talk about drugs or women and money, and the third is A$AP Rocky; he taught me that it’s cool to always think outside the box and experiment with your craft.”
Production and engineering credits go to Chronic’s close collaborators: Tyshii, who crafted the instrumental quite brilliantly, and Payson, an engineer at Funktasy Records.
Fear not, there is more Chronic on the way. A music video for “Think of You” is in the works, something he is very excited to show the world. He’s also got more content on the way and his own streetwear brand called Solitude that promotes unity and togetherness, which ties in quite well with his great music and his strong message.
