John Tibbits is back with his highly anticipated E.P “Light of the Flame.” Featuring his lauded single “Our Moment,” Tibbits is sure to pick you up and take you on a musical journey throughout the E.P. Tracks such as “Make What You Will” come as emotionally-penned, stripped back offerings that feature a powerful vocal and guitar combination. Tracks such as “Light of the Flame” showcases a different side to the singer-songwriter as he blends electronic and acoustic together, with his irresistible vocal lands weaved in between.
The E.P is melodically engaging and textually diverse as Tibbits seeks to connect with his audience. Lyrically, the E.P is well-penned as it details relationships, friendships and the monotonous routine of white-collar working.
Speaking about the E.P, he says: “This is a record that captures an array of themes: growing up (Stupid and Dumb), romance (Find the Key), political cynicism (Light of the flame), a passion for music (Our Moment) and embracing life (Make what you will). Me and Jak (my producer) had a lot of fun recording the EP, and allowed ourselves to experiment with different sounds, especially on Light of the Flame.”
Originally from a deprived part of south Birmingham (Northfield), John hails from a family of musicians and started writing songs aged 14. Having spent the last 4 years working in a white collar job in London, his lyrics speak to the banalities of working life, as well as romance, political cynicism and his passion for music itself.
His unique sound blurs old and new together, with his music taking inspiration from the likes of Roy Harper, Declan O’Rourke, and Frank Turner. He blends folk blueprints with alternative music tones to create a unique and signature sound. With a growing fanbase and some fantastic industry support, Tibbits is set to smash 2023.
